Another thing you can do to prepare for college essays is to become very familiar with the types of questions you'll likely be asked. Different colleges and universities will be seeking different types of applicants for their programs, and they'll be using different types of formats for their applications. For example, a college admissions essay may be a personal statement or it may be a written research paper.
A thorough proofreading of any essay should not simply involve looking for grammatical errors, but checking for everything that might be taken for granted in a typical assignment. The essay must be carefully examined for coherence. An example of this would be a discussion of four different statements made in the course of an essay. One of the statements should be the central thesis statement. The other three statements could all be supporting arguments, each one providing a detailed explanation of what the first one intends to argue.
The main argument in argumentative essays is usually one that is supported by at least three main points. The writer must show, through their argument, why the one point is better than the others. The writer can use many different ways to support their point of view including cherry picking, presuppositions, straw men, selective quotes and YouTube videos. The beauty of the progeria argument is that the writer does not have to rely solely on their argument to persuade the reader or the panel.
Narrative essays usually describe events; however, instead of providing supporting evidence or attempting to persuade the reader, these types of essays focus on the telling of the story. The structure is generally dependent upon whether the main purpose of the essay is to discuss an event or relay a personal experience. Many narrative essays start with a personal story that ties into the main event to a particular set of circumstances. In expository style essays, the focus is on the text; expository essays generally have the added benefit that they can be read as a single unit, whereas most narrative forms can be read in order.
When writing a narrative essay, it is important to start each paragraph with a strong opening statement that introduces the entire essay and provides the reader with the hook. The closing paragraph should provide a summary of the points covered in the introduction and the conclusion. In short, the introduction, the body, and the conclusion must have strong evidence to support the main point(s) that you wish to make in your narrative essay. Because many people already know how to write a narrative essay, you should not have much trouble providing compelling evidence to support your arguments in your narrative essay.
