A thorough proofreading of any essay should not simply involve looking for grammatical errors, but checking for everything that might be taken for granted in a typical assignment. The essay must be carefully examined for coherence. An example of this would be a discussion of four different statements made in the course of an essay. One of the statements should be the central thesis statement. The other three statements could all be supporting arguments, each one providing a detailed explanation of what the first one intends to argue.
An essay is, in general, a composition that deliver the author's main argument, but the exact definition is sometimes vague, overlapping with that of a newspaper, a book, a newspaper article, an essay, and even a short story. Essays are traditionally always formal and more often than not written by those who are educated in the field. The recent years have seen a huge increase in the number of essays written by ordinary people. Some of these are published, while others are given away as gifts. Essay writing is not limited to students anymore.
Your introduction should not be too long; three to four sentences are usually sufficient. Even so, you should strive to keep your introduction concise, to the point, and to capture the attention of the reader. One way to do this is to use proper essay formatting. A common error when writing the introduction is to use big fancy words that may seem pompous, over-the-top, or arrogant. Such language is not appropriate for an essay example.
The beginning sentences should contain broad overviews of the essay and the ideas and arguments that you plan to discuss in the body of the assignment. You should use short paragraphs to stress the main points and emphasize the story that you are telling. Your introduction is almost always the first sentence, you need to write. This will introduce your character and your story and should be rich in detail so that your reader can follow the main argument you are developing throughout the essay. This ending sentence, also called the conclusion, gives your readers the summaries of what you have written so that they can decide whether they agree or disagree with you.
The essay requires proper formatting because it needs to look appealing to the reader. A student who plans on submitting his essay for a grade should take care not to use poor formatting. There are some things that a student should avoid in terms of formatting an essay. One of these is the use of sentence fragments or line breaks. Some people make the mistake of using sentence fragments or line breaks in the middle of a paragraph or in the title page or the works cited page.
Once the title and introduction are done, the rest of the essay can now be written. The body consists of the main thesis statement, which is the most important part of the essay. The thesis statement states what is the main focus of the entire essay. The other parts of the essay revolve around this central thesis. The other sections of the essay include the first body of the essay, which is the related background information and data, and the secondary outlines or the supporting papers, each of which are important for the understanding of the essay.
